I. Verify that you are eligible and prepared to register for the Primary Recruitment process.
In order to participate in sorority recruitment events at UNL, you must be a regularly enrolled female student or plan to be a full-time student in good standing with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at the time of Primary Recruitment. Those who have previously attended a college must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to be considered in good standing.
Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment is for the 16 sororities that are currently recognized by the Collegiate Panhellenic Association at UNL. They are Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Pi Alpha Chi, Pi Beta Phi, and Sigma Alpha. Note: Pi Alpha Chi and Sigma Alpha will not fully participate in Primary Recruitment. These chapters will participate in the first round of Primary Recruitment and then hold open recruitment events immediately following Primary Recruitment. Those who complete a Primary (fall) Recruitment application will not have to complete the open recruitment application in order to participate in their events.
In order to participate in Primary Recruitment, you must pay the $100.00 registration fee at the time you complete your application. If you do not pay the registration fee at the time you submit your application, your application may not be saved, requiring you to resubmit all information. The registration fee covers the cost of your t-shirt, bag, water bottle, all print materials needed for recruitment, and select meals. For those who do not have a university meal plan, meal tickets will be provided, if it is a meal covered by the registration fee. University dining facilities will begin serving meals at breakfast on Wednesday, August 21st.
The registration fee is non-refundable. The fee will also be processed through GreekBill. Please don't mark this charge as fraudulent, if you do so it will result in an additional $25 charge that will need to be paid to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to remain eligible for sorority recruitment.
II. Gathering all materials needed for registration
Once you submit your application, you will NOT be able to make any updates/edits. Please have the following information on hand before you begin working on your application:
The Panhellenic Association is committed to helping women find their home away from home. Our goal is to provide a positive recruitment experience for all applicants. Women who are considered 'special circumstance', are women who are involved in a university-sponsored activity which may conflict with the sorority recruitment schedule. These activities include, but are not limited to: Varsity Athletics, Marching Band, William H. Thompson Scholars, Big Red Singers, etc. Work, family events, or other obligations do not qualify.
Women who have special circumstances (as defined above) will be given an adjusted schedule to ensure that they can participate in recruitment to the best of their ability. The adjusted schedule will not affect the likelihood of getting into a chapter. They will also be assigned a special circumstance recruitment guide who will assist them through the recruitment process.
Please contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions or are unsure if you are considered a special circumstance. The Vice President of Recruitment Management will follow up with all women who indicate on their application that they have special circumstances. If you do not indicate that you have special circumstances, it may be more difficult to accommodate your schedule.
